All player characters can use any melee weaponry, a buckler or shield. You may wear armour but it has no effect unless magically enhanced.

One-handed Weapons

  • Any weapon longer than 8" and less than or equal to 42" can be used in one or two hands.
  • You can dual wield weapons of this type.
  • These weapons cannot be used to thrust with.

Great Weapons

  • Weapons such as greatswords and greataxes.
  • They are greater than 42" and less than or equal to 60".
  • These weapons must be held in two hands.
  • These weapons cannot be used to thrust with.

Polearms

  • Weapons such as staves, spears, halberds, etc.
  • They are greater than 42" and less than or equal to 84".
  • These weapons must be held in two hands.
  • Polearms are vulnerable to the SHATTER call.
  • Polearms greater than or equal to 60" can be used to thrust with if they have a thrust-safe tip (though you can also swing with them). You must present a weapon you intend to thrust with to a ref or the safety officer for inspection.
  • A spear greater than or equal to 60" can be used in one hand, if held within 6" of the mid-point and used for thrusting only. You may not dual wield one-handed spears.

Buckler

  • Bucklers are shields with a diameter less than or equal to 15".
  • Bucklers must be held in a hand to block damage.

Large Shield

  • Shields with a diameter greater than 15" in any dimension.
  • Large Shields are vulnerable to the SHATTER call.
  • Shields must be held in a hand to block damage
  • A shield can be maximum of 40" in diameter, or similar area of another shape.

Runic Symbol

  • You may use a Runic Symbol in one or both hands for +1 hit point each.
  • This can either be a rune drawn on the hand, or on an object held in the hand.
  • If you benefit from a runic symbol that hand cannot be used to wield a weapon, buckler or shield in that encounter.

Others

  • Throwing weapons are not supported by this game.
  • If you wish to use a bow or crossbow, or if you have a weapon you'd like to use that doesn't fall in to these categories, contact the refs.
