Crafting is the practice of making magical items. Unlike Inscriptions, magic items are lasting.
To craft an item you must always begin with a unique base of some kind; it's not sufficient to simply smelt large amounts of magical iron to make a magic hammer. For example, rumour has it that Mjolnir was crafted from magical iron alloyed with the heart of a fallen star, still glimmering as it was excavated. Though not every magic item needs to be made from something so grandiose, it must always begin from something special.
To craft an item you must:
- Begin with the unique base(s)
- Add additional basic materials of your choice.
- Optionally cast a rune of Creation.
- Optionally add essence of your own material to the creation. This will cause at least one wound.
- State your intention for what you wish the magic item to do. A proud crafter will often address the room about their undertaking, though whispering to the aether will work just as well.
- Spend some time crafting the item.
While you make the item the refs will write you a card for it.
Using a magic item attunes you to it, preventing you from benefiting from another magic item for the rest of the event.

Guidance and assistance can be sought from the Alfar and Svartalfar. The Alfar are known for their skill crafting with Nature, Stone and Ice. The Svartalfar are known for their skill with Darkness, Iron and Flame.
