Look and Feel

The aspirational aesthetic for Norse Angels is norse mythology, which you can find many examples of online. Think Viking gear, braids, T-tunics, furs, and general winter fantasy things. This is a fantasy not a historical setting so anything Norse-inspired, whether it's 100% accurate or not, is just fine. But we also understand that not everyone has time to get an amazing costume together for a hobby.

Starting out

You don’t have to splash out on costume to get playing. The society has an armoury, which includes some basic setting-appropriate kit that you can borrow. If at all possible, please turn up in a skirt or pair of plain trousers not made of denim, and any unobtrusive shoes that aren’t white trainers. A plain shirt with no obvious logos is ideal for your top half. After that we can lend you basic layers to go over the top, as well as extra costume elements such as belts and armour pieces.

The society has plenty of weapons to borrow - we don't recommend you buy a larp weapon until you've definitely decided the hobby is for you.

Things to avoid

• Anything obviously modern (except shoes). Logos and branding are especially jarring.
• White trainers (unless you don't own any other suitable shoes).

Some Setting-Specific Ideas

If you want your costume to be specific to your Norse Angels character, here are some ideas of themes or tokens you could use

• Marks of your Rune, painted on your skin or on accessories. Please note that this is also a mechanical Talisman if used in combat as Equipment
• Facepaint or makeup illustrating your Material. More detail can be found on Materials
• Consider tokens of your god, for example a hammer charm as a Thorling, lots of jewellery as a Freyjaling, moon motifs in your kit as a Maniling, a small instrument as a Bragiling, or emergency cooking pots and spoons as a Sigynling.
• You could always have something in your costume for your familiar - if you want to match the kind of furs you have to the colour of your furry friend, or carry a special bag for them to take a nap in while they come with you to sessions, you're welcome to :)

Clothing and gender

This is a fantasy alternate universe of viking culture, so has no restrictions on clothing based on gender, although due to our OOC biases we are well aware that subconsciously gendering a character based on their clothing is going to happen, and may be a positive or negative thing according to context. Please be sensible and if someone tells you their character’s pronouns or gender, make your best effort to remember and use the correct terms regardless of the clothes they are wearing.
